Remote Script Status Displays

Reference:        Script Status Display

Remote servers and scripts are not automatically refreshed.  You must first retrieve the results for at least one script at the remote server.  This will cause the server name to display in each of the workspace windows.  At this point, you can engage the various auto update operations for that remote server by checking the remote server update box.  Servers that have been checked will now obey the open, close, and collapse auto functions.

There is a separate auto function that applies to each remote script.  This button is initialized based on the check box for the server.  Remote auto update actually retrieves new information from the remote server based on the refresh interval.  It applies only to scripts that have been retrieved, and may be disengaged or engaged on a script by script basis.

Suppose you wish to automatically follow the status of a collection of scripts at a remote server.  You would:

1.   Retrieve each script.

2.   Check auto update box for the server.

3.   Engage the various auto functions.

At this point, the remote scripts will be update and maintained like local scripts.  Suppose instead you merely want to track the operation of a particular remote script.

1.   Retrieve each script.

2.   Clear the auto update box for the server.

3.   Open the script with a double click.

4.   Engage the remote update button.
