Encryption strength determines the size of the generated key that will be used to encrypt the data.  This value is set to 56 for international installations.  This is the only strength available for DES.  Domestic encryption opens up additional choices of 128, 192, and 256 bit.  Higher numbers provide stronger encryption.  Encryption strength is also enhanced by using a longer key phrase.  The key phrase must be at least 16 characters long for 128-bit encryption, 24 characters long for 192-bit encryption, and 32 characters long for 256-bit encryption.  This is indicated by the color of the phrase strength field.
