Changing Beyond FTP Startup Security

You must have administrative rights to perform these actions.  If you cannot make the appropriate modifications, contact your system administrator. 

The following steps apply to Windows 2000/2003.

1.     Open the Control Panel by selecting Start > Settings > Control Panel

2.     Open the Administrative Tools window.

3.     Open the Component Services applet  (Windows Server users may open the Services applet directly and skip step 4).

4.     Double-click the tree entry labeled Services (Local).

5.     Open the Beyond FTP properties dialog by either double-clicking the Beyond FTP entry, or right-clicking and selecting Properties.

6.     Select the Log On tab.

7.     Select This account and enter an appropriate user name and password.  Use the browse button to view available user names.  Be sure to select a user that will provide the desired access to various system and network resources.

8.     Click Apply.

9.     Select the General tab and click Stop to unload Beyond FTP services.  Then click Start to run them under the new user information.

10.   Launch Beyond FTP and verify that the desired resources are present.


The following steps apply to Windows XP/Vista.

1.     Open the Control Panel by selecting Start > Control Panel

2.     Open the Administrative Tools window.

3.     Open the Services applet.

4.     Open the Beyond FTP properties dialog by either double-clicking the Beyond FTP entry, or right-clicking and selecting Properties.

6.     Select the Log On tab.

7.     Select This account and enter an appropriate user name and password.  Use the browse button to view available user names.  Be sure to select a user that will provide the desired access to various system and network resources.

8.     Click Apply.

9.     Select the General tab and click Stop to unload Beyond FTP services.  Then click Start to run them under the new user information.

10.   Launch Beyond FTP and verify that the desired resources are present.


If you still do not have access to the expected network resources, verify that the selected account has the required access by logging in to that account and using Explorer.
